Welcome/Registration Desk opens at 11am ~ Race begins promptly at 1PM (after the Aquavit Street Parade and sound of our event horn. This year's prizes include custom Viking medals created by a local artist and other unique items from participating vendors (TBA soon).

YES your registration includes a logo'd sport bag. Event t-shirts can be purchased at our merchandise/registration table for $22 each. We will provide a water table, sliced oranges, medals and prizes at various levels for crossin the Fjord. It will be a timed race, however most participants make it a leisurely activity to spend time with friends and family or to be captivated by nature.

YES this is a family and pet-friendly event, but parents/guardians must register, complete and sign the waiver for kids under 18. Dressing up in Scandinavian theme and teams are encouraged. We will be judging on BEST DRESSED to earn fun prizes! Pets must wear a safety vest.

YES you will be crossing the Fjord but not quite ALL of the way over due to personal properties, safety and time constraints. Enjoy being a part of an old Nordic tradition, where Aquavit was transported across the equator to the West Indies. Replace the West Indies with Hoodsport to follow our local Vikings on their decorated sailboat! It's quite the show! Paddlers are asked to use the Viking sailboat and YSS Dive boat as your guide and reference of where to turn around.

YES you can bring your own kayak, SUP, canoe or whatever non-motorized vessel you choose to cross the Fjord. Conveniently we will have an offloading station right at the Port of Hoodsport with volunteers helping you safely load/unload before finding parking. Parking is not available at the Port of Hoodsport. We will have state patrol on site to help with safety and any potential summer traffic congestion.

YES you can rent kayaks from Hood Canal Adventures at an hourly rate (allow at least 3 hours). They will be on site but with limited inventory. It is best to call in advance to reserve your kayak (single or double). PH: (360) 301-6310 - Christina

YES this event is run by volunteers and we always do our best to make it extremely fun and well organized for ALL. We appreciate the help from YSS Dive to ensure everyone's SAFETY is a priority. Your registration $$ not only pays for administrative costs and coordination, but also supports our success for years to come. We thank you in advance! This year you will notice our NEW feathered tall signs for registration and a finish line banner!
